Grenache, Syrah

75cl * 14.5% ABV * Languedoc, France

Chateau Puech-Haut is a, now not-so-secret, star of the Languedoc founded by Gerard Bru. The Chateau owns some of the best vineyard sites in the South of France, 20km northeast of Montpellier, extending over 250 hectares, oscillating between 50 and 150 meters altitude. The estate has become a staple of Languedoc, Robert Parker even qualified it as “Easily one of the top estates in Languedoc (if not of all southern France)”. The combination of warm Maritime climate and mixture of clay and limestone soils topped with sunlight-absorbing galet pebbles, help create a truly impressive range of superb value wines with depth and character.

Made from 70% Syrah with the balance from Grenache and principally aged in large wood barriques rather than small, the Prestige Rouge is concentrated and complex. The nose is a bouquet of ripe raspberry, Kirsch and plum alongside woody and mushroom-y undergrowth notes. The palate is generous and intense, with a core of dark fruit; Morello cherries, cassis, blackcurrant and prune, a hint of liquorice and a savoury lick of umami. The finish is juicy and persistent.

Open at least 30 minutes to two hours before tasting and serve between 16-18°C.

Drinking window: 2022 - 2030.
