Grenache Gris, Carignan
75cl * 13.0% ABV * Languedoc, France
Founded in the 11th century, Chateau L'Ermitage was once a home to the hermit of the Saint Cecile Abbey, situated on the pilgrimage route of Santiago de Compostella. The vineyards benefit from a sunny, south-facing aspect and an airy Mediterranean climate. Made from predominantly pale-skinned Grenache Gris grapes from 10-to-20 year-old vines, this is made via the 'pressurage direct' method to create a very pale and elegant rose. A delicate grapefruit-tinged nose with hints of white peach and minerals. Superb with mixed antipasti, such as crostini topped with black olive tapenade or anchovies with sundried tomatoes.
