The Hugel family have been working the same vineyards for 12 generations since 1639. Whilst the producer is best known for its white varietal and blended wines, Pinot Noir is gaining in Alsace as a result of climate change and better understanding of the variety and increasing amounts are being made. A lighter and fresher style than its Burgundian contemporaries, this recalls wild raspberry and cherry, with slightly smoky woodland overtones. Pair with rustic Alsatian cuisine: sausages, charcuterie or white meat. Works well slightly chilled.
