75cl * Vegan * 13.5% ABV * Rioja, Spain
After light maceration of the must with the skins in the press, this ferments in different sized wooden vats and new French-oak casks with very lightly toasted wood sourced from the Nevers region. Once fermentation is complete, the wine remains in oak casks for 4 months, with lees stirring or “bâtonage” twice per week during the first months and once a day during the final month, so as to keep the fine lees in contact with the wine to protect it from oxygen and to give a smoother mouth-feel and more complexity.
The 2022 vintage of Muga Blanco has a deep golden straw-yellow colour. Complex on the nose, there are aromas of floral white blossom, soft peach with hints of vanilla and creamy lemon cake from the oak-aging. On the palate, it is fresh and lively with well-balanced acidity and a very long finish.
Enjoy over the next three years with full-flavoured fish and seafood dishes - our mind goes straight to Paella. Equally, ideal for drinking by the glass or with a small appetiser on a terrace.
