Trappola is so named after the extraordinary medieval castle which sits atop a sun-drenched hill in the heart of Tuscany overlooking the ancient hamlet of the same name. This castle belonged to the Ricasolis for over 800 years and the coat of arms on the label pays homage to the original branch of Brolio. The current Baron Francesco Ricasoli has guided this central Tuscan winery since 1993.
The blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and a touch of Merlot ferments initially for 2 weeks in stainless steel tanks giving a fresh, clean, modern-style. This is balanced by rustic and earthy notes from 8- to 9-months in old wooden tonneaux (barrels). Ripe wild berry fruits, with spicy tobacco on the palate and healthy tannins lead to a long and velvety finish.
